Christa Haley is a filmmaker and MFA thesis candidate at the NYU Graduate Film program whose work explores femininity with unsettling intimacy. Her debut short film, Swim Captain, won Best Student Short at the Woodstock Film Festival. Her follow-up, Tragedy Babes, premiered at Palm Springs ShortFest and was released by Short of the Week. Christa’s work has been recognized at NYU with a Faculty Commendation in Filmmaking, and she is a recipient of the Rolly Bester Scholarship.

Christa grew up in The North Country of rural New York State and studied in the inaugural Cinema & Screen Studies cohort at SUNY Oswego. She began her career as a production intern on The Place Beyond the Pines while working weekends at Blockbuster, and later became director Derek Cianfrance’s assistant. She has since worked as a Local 700 Assistant Editor on projects including Harriet, Mary Poppins Returns, and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
